The Minister of Social Rights and General Secretary of Podemos, Ione Belarra, has announced that where they govern after the regional and municipal elections of 28M they will limit the purchase of housing to non-residents in areas that are declared under tension within the Housing Law because "houses are for living and not for speculating."

At the central campaign meeting of the Podemos, IU and Alianza Verde candidacy in Madrid , held on Sunday in the Plaza de Peñuelas, Belarra made this announcement because she wants to take the recently approved Housing Law "to the last consequences" and not only limiting tourist apartments in stressed areas to 2%, as they affirm in their electoral program. "So that in the Aragonese Pyrenees but also in Vallecas the houses are for living and not for speculation," he added.

During the event, the minister pointed out that this Phone Lead campaign is revolving around housing "thanks to Unidas Podemos". "We need brave governments that believe the Housing Law that we have approved and make it possible to the last comma, and thus confront the speculators. And the only ones who are going to be there when things get difficult to apply the law, and be vigilantes against speculators will be Roberto Sotomayor and Alejandra Jacinto in Madrid,” he said.

The two are the candidates of Podemos, IU and Alianza Verde, respectively, for the Community and the Madrid City Council. During the rally, Jacinto promised that they will directly prohibit the purchase of housing by non-resident investors if he governs after next Sunday's elections. " You can come to Madrid to live and work, but not to speculate ," he concluded.

This also explains why rental profitability is lower in Barcelona than in Madrid or Valencia. Only one district, Nou Barris, offers a profitability greater than 6% and is the only one with a price below 3,000 euros/m2, with an average cost of 2,522 euros/m2.

Sant Martí is next, with an average profitability of around 5.9% and an average purchase price of 3,629 euros/m2. Villaverde, the most profitable and cheapest district in Madrid.

Buying a home to rent in the areas with the cheapest prices can be 61% more profitable than some of the most expensive districts, Sarriá-Sant Gervasi (5,452 euros/m2), Les Corts (4.8881 euros/m2) or Eixample (4,695 euros/m2), among others.
